Sanwa Names Head of Commercial Unit
* Larry D. Layne, Sanwa Bank California vice chairman and head of Sanwa’s commercial banking group, will retire Dec. 31. He will be succeeded by Jeffrey P. Anderson, a senior executive vice president in the commercial banking group.
* Los Angeles-based FoodMarketplace.com has named Patrick Yount president of its SurplusFoods division, a business-to-business company that helps suppliers liquidate excess inventory. Yount is former chief executive of Good Source Solutions.
* Honeywell Corp. has named Eduardo Castro-Wright president and chief executive of its transportation and power systems, based in Torrance. He previously was president of Honeywell’s Asia Pacific region.
* RCR Cos., a Riverside-based plumbing products provider, has promoted Rory Bertaina to president and Michael Mahony to executive vice president responsible for fiscal operations.
* Retailer Strouds Inc. has promoted divisional Vice President Robert Valone to general merchandise manager. Strouds is based in Industry.
* Santa Monica-based Medschool.com, a health-care-oriented online educational company, has appointed Dr. Jeffrey Drezner executive vice president and member of the board of directors. Drezner previously was executive vice president of Medscape, an online health information company.
* Malibu Networks, which makes broadband Internet provider components, has named Brian Coulter vice president of business development. He is a former vice president of national account sales for DSL provider Northpoint Communications.
* Pearson Television North America, based in Santa Monica, promoted William Lincoln to chief operating officer; Matt Loze has been tapped as president, production, drama and long form; and Sara Rutenberg has been named president, business development and strategy.
