FileNet Chief Also Takes Chairman Role

FileNet Corp. president and chief executive Lee D. Roberts has assumed the additional title of chairman from founder Ted Smith, the company said Thursday.

Smith, who founded the Costa Mesa developer of document management software in 1982, will remain on the board.

Roberts joined FileNet as president and chief operating officer in 1997, after a career with IBM Corp. spanning 20 years. The following year, he was promoted to chief executive.

The company’s stock closed at $30.38, off $1.44 a share, in Nasdaq trading.
