* Re “A Season of Discontent for Laid-Off ‘Dot-Commers,’ ” Dec. 22: Why do I find it so difficult to garner any pity for disillusioned “dot-commers” who suddenly find themselves unemployed in a moribund industry built on a flimsy premise and fueled by avarice and contempt for so-called “old economics.” To me, youthful idealism had more to do with, say, the Peace Corps than it did with the painful “humility” of one’s lost dream of runaway, unearned wealth.
