From Times Wire Reports

The New York City chapter of the League of Women Voters, on the brink of closing its New York City office, received eleventh-hour offers of support to help it stay afloat. “We haven’t seen any checks yet, but we’re definitely optimistic that the money that is going to come in will be enough to cover expenses,” said Katherine Flaherty, a past president of the chapter. The chapter is more than $25,000 in debt due to dwindling membership and corporate support and was on the verge of closing its $1,300-a-month office.
