Officials Honor Civilian Investigator

City officials have named police investigator and spokeswoman Corinne Loomis as the 2000 Employee of the Year, an award given to the city worker who best exhibits outstanding service and cooperation among other colleagues.

Loomis, a civilian investigator for the Police Department since 1997, began her career as a community service officer in 1983. She is responsible for investigating cases of fraud, identity theft, sex crimes, missing persons and domestic violence, and also works as the media liaison for the department.

Capt. Dave Taylor praised Loomis as a team player with a special knack for investigating the emotionally draining cases involving crimes against children or domestic abuse.

“She seems to have found a balance where she somehow minimizes the horrific toll trying to help hurt children takes on people, but still remains effective as an investigator,” he said. “She’s unique in that she’s still a civilian, but she’s picked up the best traits of an investigator.”

In the past, Loomis has been honored by the Placentia Chamber of Commerce, the Regional Occupational Program, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District and Placentia-Linda Hospital.
