Police Arrest Ex-Chief of the Armed Forces

Police arrested former President Alberto Fujimori’s armed forces chief, state television reported. Former Gen. Jose Villanueva Ruesta was seized in a coastal town near Ecuador. It was unclear what charges Villanueva faced, but he has been accused of helping ex-spy chief Vladimiro Montesinos--now a fugitive--flee Peru and of being unable to justify his income.
