* “Government Request for Proposals,” a one-hour, one-on-one tutorial sponsored by the Resource Center for Nonprofit Management at the Ventura County Community Foundation, is available by appointment through February.

Participants need a current government RFP, which they will learn to read and understand.

* “Creative Promotions and the Marketing of Services,” six sessions for business professionals, will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning Wednesday at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

The instructor is Naomi Finkel, creative director of Say It With Words.

* An employment tax seminar sponsored by the California Employment Development Department will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ventura Taxpayer Service Center, 4820 McGrath St., Ventura.

Topics will include the difference between an employee and an independent contractor, and state and federal payroll reporting requirements.

* “World Marketing Opportunities,” the third conference in a series sponsored by the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County, will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 11 at the UFCW Building, 816 Camarillo Springs Road, Camarillo.

The conference, geared toward local manufacturers, will include how to grow a business, strategic partnerships, managing sales representatives, and immediate and long-term marketing results.

The cost is $30 and includes breakfast.
