Wireless Web Bid: Microsoft Corp. is in talks with Sprint Corp. and Vodafone AirTouch to form an alliance to offer content from Microsoft’s Web pages through cell phones and pagers, a person familiar with the discussions said. The talks were earlier reported by Cnet Inc.’s News.com site. Microsoft, Sprint and Vodafone declined to comment. Microsoft wants cell-phone carriers to offer the latest version of Microsoft’s MSN Mobile through their cell phones, allowing users to access Microsoft Web sites content, such as news, financial data and sports scores. The company is trying to sell several kinds of software for use on phones and pagers, and versions of its Internet Explorer browser and Windows operating system.
