Intel to Buy 2 Firms

Intel Corp. said it agreed to buy closely held Ambient Technologies Inc. for about $150 million in cash. Fremont, Calif.-based Ambient will give Intel a new chipset that will deliver simultaneous DSL and high-speed analog modem capabilities in a single device. Intel also agreed to buy closely held Thinkit Technologies Inc., based in India, which designs chips used in networking and communications products such as switches and routers. Terms of the cash transaction weren’t disclosed. Intel closed up $4.13 at $104.19 on Nasdaq.
