“It was New Year’s, and I had a bottle of Bollinger “Grand Annee” Champagne. It was a ’90. My wife and I were supposed to go out to a big New Year’s celebration, but we ended up staying at home and opening that. It was a very concentrated wine--with a nice creaminess and a toasted nutty character. Certainly the fruit was there, too. But it had aged, so it was showing more creaminess.”
