SAN CLEMENTE

The Heritage of San Clemente and Visitors Center will soon close its doors so the nonprofit organization that operates the city’s only cultural history museum can help reopen Casa Romantica in the coming months.

The Heritage, which has been in the 400 block of El Camino Real since 1997, will allow its lease to expire at the end of the month and eventually dissolve its membership in order to make the restoration and preservation of Casa Romantica its sole focus, said City Councilman G. Wayne Eggleston, the museum’s executive director.

“There’s no sense in having multiple heritage organizations competing for the same dollars in a small town, and Casa Romantica needs to be that major focus,” Eggleston said.
