Absentee Ballots Available on Request

Hundreds of San Fernando Valley residents have not received their official sample ballots for the March 7 primary election because the Los Angeles County Registrar has until Feb. 28 to mail them out, said county registrar spokeswoman Marcia Ventura.

“We’re still mailing them out,” Ventura said. “Feb. 28 is the normal state-designated election deadline. It hasn’t changed for years.”

But some citizens voting by mail are concerned that they may not receive their ballot in time to meet the state’s Feb. 29 absentee ballot deadline.

“I’m visually impaired so that’s the only way I can vote,” said Theresa Weissenberger of North Hollywood, who has not received her sample ballot. “I’ve never received my ballot so late that I couldn’t vote, but I’m getting a bit concerned.”

Ventura said voters like Weissenberger can request an absentee ballot by writing to the Los Angeles County Registrar’s Absent Voter Section, P.O. Box 30450, Los Angeles 90030-0450.

“Those who don’t want to wait can just request the ballots early,” Ventura said. “We’ve already received hundreds of requests for the absentee ballots.”
