Nonprofit Service Group Seeks Youth Trainees
Public Allies, a nonprofit organization focusing on youth leadership training, is accepting applications for trainees interested in community service.
The organization is looking for 30 participants, or “allies,” ages 18 to 30, for a 10-month training program that involves weekly leadership sessions and internships at local nonprofit and community-based organizations.
Each ally is paid up to $15,000 and is eligible for health care and child care. In addition, participants also receive a $4,725 award at the end of the program to be used for future education or to pay off student loans.
Previous allies have interned at such organizations as the Korean Youth & Community Center, the American Lung Assn. and the Latino Civil Rights Network. Information: (213) 833-1880.
