Viasoft CFO Resigns: Viasoft Inc. said its chief financial officer, Mark Schonau, has resigned to pursue other interests, but will continue to advise the company on a consulting basis. The Phoenix-based maker of year 2000 software said Chairman and Chief Executive Steven D. Whiteman will act as interim CFO. The company said it wants to focus on litigation over its proposed merger with Compuware Corp. before finding a new chief financial officer. The Justice Department filed suit in October to block Compuware’s $162-million tender offer for Viasoft, saying the combination would lead to higher prices for two types of mainframe software. Viasoft shares rose 47 cents to close at $5.69 on Nasdaq.
