Pair of Escaped Inmates Captured Near Mexico Border

TAFT, Calif. —
Two of three inmates who walked away Monday from a minimum-security federal prison were arrested near the U.S-Mexico border.
Escapees Lorenzo Guerrero, 20, and Rafael Arechiga-Rubio, 22, were arrested Tuesday by Border Patrol agents on Old Highway 80 near Interstate 8. A third escapee, Armando Medina, 22, has eluded capture.
Warden Ray Andrews of the Taft Federal Correctional Institute said the prisoners were reported missing Monday night.
Agents were conducting routine immigration checks on Old Highway 80 when they arrested the two men.
