Saddleback Beats Dons in Overtime

Andre Jackson scored 25 points and Semaj Johnson had 23 as Saddleback defeated Santa Ana in overtime, 99-96, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday at Santa Ana.

Saddleback outscored Santa Ana, 12-9, in the overtime period.

Santa Ana, which trailed by two at the half, outscored Saddleback 42-40 in the second half to force overtime.

Greg Gray had a game-high 29 points for the Dons, Zac Fray had 20 points and Mark Wulfemeyer 18.

Mike Donegon contributed 20 points for visiting Saddleback.

In other conference games:

Cypress 75, Golden West 48--Towan Oliver scored 15 points for host Cypress (9-11, 2-1), including three three-point baskets, and had 10 rebounds. Tony Jimmerson added 14 points for the Chargers, making two of three free throws.

Rodney Clarke was the game’s high scorer with 17 points for Golden West (5-13, 0-3). Jeff Jensen scored 14 points, making all six of his free throws for the Rustlers.

Fullerton 102, Orange Coast 95--Fullerton led, 40-34, at the end of the first half, which gave the Hornets just enough room in an otherwise even game. Shelton Wise scored 26 points for host Fullerton (11-9, 1-2). Teammate Charles Mann was 14 for 15 from the free-throw line and scored 21 points for the Hornets.

David Castleton scored 37 points for Orange Coast (11-9, 1-2), including 18 on three-pointers. Duc Nguyen added 27 points for the Pirates, scoring 24 points in the first half.

Golden West 58, Cypress 48--Tracy Twellman had 18 points and 15 rebounds and Evalani Tagaloa scored 16 points for visiting Golden West (14-4, 1-2).
