The La Palma Chess Club is holding beginning and intermediate chess tournaments Friday evenings at the Recreation and Community Center, 7821 Walker Ave.

Beginners’ match play is from 6 to 10 p.m. Intermediate play is from 6 to 11 p.m. The tournament fee is $25 per person. Information: (714) 690-3350.
