Michael Messina was sworn in as Brea’s newest police captain at a ceremony last week in the Civic Center. Messina had been a lieutenant since 1994 and served with the department’s patrol unit and the narcotics bureau. A graduate of Cal State Fullerton, Messina has earned commendations from the Secret Service and the city of Brea. Messina is assigned to Yorba Linda as commander of the Liaison Support Services Division.
