Dick Van Dyke will host a comedy night in March to help raise money for the Oak Park theater building committee.

The comedian will be the master of ceremonies at the $60-per-person event March 4 at 7:30 p.m. It will feature other comedians, a silent auction, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

The silent auction will include travel packages, gift baskets and a signed script from the television show “General Hospital,” said Susan Gordon, a spokeswoman for the project.

Organizers hope to raise about $15,000 to be earmarked for the architectural phase of the theater building project. The theater committee, which consists of parents, teachers and community leaders, hopes to raise $5 million to design and build a visual and performing arts center at Oak Park High School.

The theater will be used by students and the community at large. Van Dyke lives in Malibu and his granddaughter attends Oak Park High School, Gordon said.

The event will be held at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center. For more information or an invitation, call (818) 706-0241.
