Rescue Mission Gets Funds to Help Families * The Ventura County Rescue Mission received a $9,700 donation from the Ventura County Realtors Community Outreach Foundation. The money will benefit the mission’s Lighthouse Transitional Family Center, which provides food, clothing and temporary shelter for single women and women with children. The foundation was established by the Ventura County Coastal Assn. of Realtors to assist charities.
Wellness Community Elects New Officers
* The board of directors of the Wellness Community Valley/Ventura elected Berniece Bennett of Westlake Village as its president for 2000. Other newly elected officers include Alan Hopkins, vice president; Judie Williams, secretary; and Lisa Allison, treasurer. Named to three-year terms on the board of directors were Lisa Allison, Pam Kelty, Mike Mullen, Carol Robinson, Shellie Rothstein and Anne Schnepf.
Donation to Benefit Trails Day Event
* The Andy Fox Charitable Community Fund announced that it provided $700 to the Conejo Open Space Foundation in support of its annual Trail Day event. The fund also provided $500 to Veterans of Foreign Wars Eric Huberth Post 11395 to support its Voice of Democracy essay contest.
