The groove-minded rock band 311 paid its dues in L.A. after relocating from its native Omaha, so it ended the millennium in fitting fashion by partaking in the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ New Year’s Eve bill at the Forum. On Sunday the band treats fans to a more intimate setting, headlining the House of Blues before embarking on a spring tour.

The Groundling Theatre--whose alumni include Julia Sweeney, Phil Hartman and Lisa Kudrow--gives its latest crop of apprentice Groundlings, the Sunday Company, a chance to show their comedy-improv chops in “Groundlings Feel Like Making Sunday.”

Attention collectors, designers and do-it-yourselfers: The Textile, Costume and Clothing Show returns to the Pickwick Center on Sunday. Table linens, quilts, Victorian lace as well as wearable antique clothes will be on sale from 80 vendors. Vintage fabric--yards and yards of unused cloth from the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s--is expected to be the hot item this year. With mid-century furniture gaining popularity, so are complementary patterns.

For its West Coast debut, the Altenberg Trio from Vienna is on the bill for a Chamber Music in Historic Sites event at the Canfield-Moreno Estate in Silver Lake. The group will play trios by Beethoven and Schumann.

11 am: Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art presents the second installment of its impressive Panza Collection as “The Panza Gift” opens Sunday at the downtown museum. While the first installment, “Panza: The Legacy of a Collector” (which opened Dec. 12 and continues through April 30), illustrates major movements in postwar art such as Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and post-Minimalism, the second installment focuses on works by California artists created between 1982 and 1993. Comprised of works looking at form, surface and meaning, the “Panza Gift” includes works by Los Angeles artists Lawrence Carroll, Greg Colson, Jeff Colson, Ron Griffin, Mark Lere, Gregory Mahoney, Ross Rudel, Peter Shelton, Robert Therrien and Roy Thurston.

Pianist Reiko Uchida opens the winter 2000 Gold Medal series of recitals by alumni of the Colburn School of Performing Arts. Uchida, who attended the school from 1975 to 1988, will play a program of music by Chopin, Beethoven and Brahms.

As counter-programming to the Super Bowl, cable’s Comedy Central will present a marathon of the outrageous ‘90s British sitcom “Absolutely Fabulous.” 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Also, the two-hour “Absolutely Fabulous: The Last Shout” will air at 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
