Agoura Hills

A “Day in the Park,” sponsored by the Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and the Oak Park Recreation Committee, begins with a tot parade at 10:45 a.m. (sign up by 10:30 a.m.) at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, Agoura Hills. Burbank

The Bill Elliot Swing Orchestra headlines the annual “All-American Celebration” music and fireworks show from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Starlight Bowl, 1249 Lockheed View Drive, Burbank. Calabasas

Calabasas High School, 22855 W. Mulholland Highway, sponsors its third annual “Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular” from 7 to 9:45 p.m. The program includes music by the Jimmy McConnel Orchestra, a moon bounce, arts and crafts, food booths and fireworks. Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center, 23400 Park Sorrento, holds a free “Fourth of July Summer Splash Party” with public swimming and tennis from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Other activities include games, a petting zoo, a disc jockey, Hawaiian dancers and a family-style barbecue. Castaic

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce presents its 12th annual fireworks display and celebration at Crescenta Valley High School, 4400 Ramsdell Ave. Gates open at 4 p.m. Activities include carnival rides, food booths and live music. Lake View Terrace

The “Fourth of July 2000 Celebration at Hansen Dam” from 1 to 10 p.m. features free entertainment, food vendors and fireworks. The swimming beach will be open throughout the day. Musical entertainment includes a gospel ensemble, a mariachi band and the LAPD Police Concert Band. Porter Ranch

The “Free Fourth of July Spectacular” at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 19700 Rinaldi St., includes food, a USO-style musical revue and fireworks. Gates open at 4 p.m. Fireworks begin at nightfall. Information: (818) 831-9333.

San Fernando

A day of family fun and fireworks, sponsored by the San Fernando Recreation and Community Services Department, begins at 3 p.m. at San Fernando Recreation Park, 208 Park Ave. In addition to games, music and dancing, the Chico Band headlines the celebration, with a 6 p.m. concert and fireworks to begin at dusk. “The Fourth of July Picnic and Fireworks Spectacular” featuring live music, dancing, games and fireworks begins at 5:30 p.m. at the CBS lot, 3024 Radford Ave. The Busboys, Al Stewart and Stephen Bishop headline the event, a fund-raiser for Olive Crest Homes and Services for Abused Children. Sunland-Tujunga

The Rotary Club presents its annual Fourth of July parade from 10 a.m. to noon beginning on Foothill Boulevard at Mt. Gleason Avenue in Tujunga. Activities include the opening of a time capsule buried 38 years ago at 12:30 p.m. at Sunland Park, 8640 Fenwick St., Sunland, and a nighttime fireworks display at the Verdugo Hills High School football field, 10625 Plainview Ave. Gates open at 6 p.m. Information: (818) 353-7056.

Valencia

Six Flags Magic Mountain, 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway, hosts its annual “Strictly USA” celebration from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with fireworks, live music and dancing. The events are included with Magic Mountain admission, which ranges from $20.50 to $40. Park guests may also pay $8.95 to join the “Great American Picnic,” which runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Picnic includes all-you-can-eat chicken dinner, face painting, games and entertainment and VIP seating for the 9:30 p.m. fireworks show. Valley Glen

Singer Cuba Gooding Sr. headlines the fourth annual free Fourth of July event at Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave. Gooding was a member of the Motown group Main Ingredient that was perhaps most famous for its chart-topping rendition of “Everybody Plays the Fool.” The 3-10 p.m. celebration will also feature patriotic music by the Tony MacLaren Band, food booths and a fireworks display starting at 9:30 p.m. In keeping with the theme, “Music for Our Children,” guests are asked to donate a new or used musical instrument. Valley Village

A fife player and a drummer in period dress lead the Valley Village Homeowners Assn.’s seventh annual Fourth of July parade, beginning at 10 a.m. at Colfax Avenue Elementary School, 11724 Addison St., and ending at Valley Village Park, on Westpark Drive between Magnolia Boulevard and Riverside Drive.
