From Times Wire Reports

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf officially opened a 10-mile bridge linking their nations. The $3.7-billion project, which includes a tunnel and an artificial island, will provide passage between Copenhagen, the Danish capital, and Malmo, Sweden’s third-largest city, for vehicles and trains. Officials hope that the span over Oresund Strait--which resulted from glaciers melting over 7,000 years--eventually will boost trade, research and culture by joining 3.2 million regional inhabitants and by luring more regional headquarters of global companies.
