Gala Will Kick Off Great Homes Tour

The Palos Verdes Art Center will kick off its First Great Homes Tour of the 21st century with a gala July 14 from 7 to 11 p.m. The event will be held at a 1931 Portuguese Bend home designed by architect E. Douglas Levinson.

The tours, which run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 and 16, include one of the original model homes of Palos Verdes Estates. Built in 1928 by R.R. Struthers, the restored Spanish Revival home, with California tiles, mahogany floors and recessed windows and doors, exemplifies the architectural style of the period.

The tour also features a 1924 Mediterranean-style estate, a Southwestern-style home, and a Mission-style home.

Tickets for the gala and tour are $125. The cost for the tour only is $25.
