* Re “High Court Strikes Down ‘Partial-Birth’ Abortion Plan,” June 29: I find the statement “the future of abortion rights likely depends on who wins the fall presidential election” rather ironic. Is this the way the Constitution works; that the guaranteed right to privacy is dependent on whom the president happens to be?

If the Supreme Court has trouble legally protecting a fully developed viable baby because saving his/her life might interfere with a woman’s “right to choose” abortion, then maybe we should redefine the procedure. “Partial-birth abortion” is not an accurate description for this despicable action. Let’s be honest, “infanticide” and “murder” are closer to the truth.
