Hot From the Oven

Share

Channa masala, a spicy Indian vegetarian dish of garbanzo beans, is a house specialty at the two India’s Oven locations. The beans are cooked with onions, garlic and tomatoes and spiced with fresh ginger, roasted cumin and ground red peppers. The heat will be adjusted to taste (a tip: hot here is very, very spicy; medium is just about right). You get a container of green chutney with the order. To go with it, you could order a tandoori bread and either plain rice or a vegetable biryani. Just add a salad and you’d have a fine dinner.

Channa masala, $5.50 (two servings) at India’s Oven, 7231 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles; (323) 936-1000. Also at 11645 Wilshire Blvd., second floor, Los Angeles; (310) 207-5522.
