The Irvine holding company, whose principal subsidiaries are WFS Financial Inc. and Western Financial Bank, reported record earnings of $17.6 million, or 64 cents a share, for the second quarter, a gain of 38% from $12.8 million, or 48 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. WFS Financial posted record net income of $16.1 million, or 57 cents a share, up 32% from the $12.2 million, or 47 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue increased 32% to $89 million.
