From Times Wire Reports

Independence fighters mounted hit-and-run attacks on Russian troops in Chechnya, lobbing shells on Russian posts in the capital, Grozny, and detonating a mine under a truck carrying soldiers. The truck was struck near Noviye Atagi, about six miles south of Grozny, military officials said. The Interior Ministry press center said there were casualties but did not elaborate. No casualties were reported after guerrillas shelled Russian positions in the breakaway republic 10 times in 24 hours starting Friday night, including eight attacks in Grozny, the Russian military command said. Russian officials say about 500 rebels remain in Grozny, which Moscow has said it has reclaimed.
