Nearly 135 people filled a meeting room at City Hall last week to hear members of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust and the Orange County chapter of the Sierra Club speak about the importance of saving the Bolsa Chica mesa from development.
Members of both environmental organizations asked people to attend a California Coastal Commission meeting Aug. 9, during the agency’s weeklong meeting in Huntington Beach at the Waterfront Hilton.
Although the state agency is not expected to make a decision on a proposal from Hearthside Homes to build up to 1,235 homes on the mesa until October, leaders of both organizations encouraged people to attend the August meeting in a show of support. So far, 118 people have signed a commitment form to attend the meeting.
