Why Is Sanchez Heading a PAC?

* Re “Sanchez Rolling With the Rabbit Punches Over Plans,” July 21:
Forget about the propriety, or lack thereof, of Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Garden Grove) selecting the Los Angeles Playboy Mansion as the venue for a fund-raiser to benefit the Hispanic Unity USA political action committee (which she chairs) during next month’s Democratic National Convention.
Forget about the fact that Al Gore, who handpicked Sanchez as vice chairwoman of the upcoming Democratic convention, is not amused and will not attend.
What we should all be very upset about is that an elected member of Congress cannot only be a member of, but actually chair a political action committee.
Pardon me if I seem naive, but I thought our representatives were elected to work for all their constituents, not a particular segment of them.
