9 Killed, 115 Injured When Trains Collide

From Times Wire Reports

A commuter train slammed into another that had stopped at a station outside Sao Paulo, killing at least nine people and injuring 115, Brazilian authorities said. The collision occurred Friday night in Perus, northwest of Sao Paulo. The Sao Paulo Metropolitan train company blamed the crash on a power failure that left the train’s braking system inoperable.
