Communicating with taxi drivers in a foreign country can be frustrating. But officials in Seoul, South Korea, think they may have a solution. Beginning this month, electronic language interpretation services will be provided aboard 2,500 taxis as an experiment. The system enables foreigners to communicate with taxi drivers via interpreters linked to the cabs through mobile speaker phones. Languages to be covered initially are English, Japanese and Chinese.
