AML Communications Reports Loss for Year

AML Communications Inc. reported losses for both the quarter and fiscal year ended March 31.

For the fourth quarter, the company reported a net loss of $907,000, or 14 cents per diluted share, compared with a loss of $2.2 million, or 35 cents per diluted share, a year earlier. Net sales for the quarter were $1.8 million, compared with $1.1 million for the previous year.

For fiscal 2000, the company reported a net loss of $1.7 million, or 27 cents per diluted share, compared with a loss of $3.1 million, or 50 cents per diluted share, for the same period a year earlier. Net sales for fiscal 2000 were $7.9 million, compared with $7.8 million for the prior year.

Kirk A. Waldron, AML’s president and chief executive, said the company has made progress in tightening its management and improving its technology and manufacturing base. That’s been reflected, Waldron added, in the reduction in operating losses.
