Rich Man, Poor Man

Share

If I made travel decisions based on prices quoted in your articles, I could not afford to travel. Over the years I have come to conclude that Travel section writers and advertisers are catering only to the rich.

In my recent three-week trip to Germany, my double room in German hotels that are better than most chains averaged $64, including breakfast. In fact the entire trip cost only $2,335, or less than $120 per day for two, including $439 for the car and $182 for gas (1,713 miles).

You might want to let your readers know that you do not have to be rich to travel.

Why not articles on first-class air travel as well as all the articles on budget travel?

I just returned from a trip to England flying Virgin Upper Class. Why? Let me count the reasons: limo service provided to and from the airport at home and at the destination; fast check-in; a comfortable, secure and well-appointed lounge; roomy seating and sleeping comfort for a flight of over 10 hours.

This all comes at a cost, of course, but then we don’t travel often. Not having to deal with all that airport turmoil is worth something.
