U.S. Oil

Re “Third Shock Due,” Opinion, June 11: It would be wise to give domestic oil companies new tax breaks at the federal and state levels and let them aggressively explore, drill and produce oil onshore and offshore. Let the exploration and drilling begin anew on the federal, state and privately held lands all along the great stretch of the Pacific Coast from San Diego up to Alaska’s Bering Sea.

The time has come to stop the rich environmentalists who campaigned to wreck our mighty American petroleum industry in favor of foreign oil dependency and ruining the environments of people of color in foreign lands.

Also, there is plenty of oil to be recovered from old oil-producing areas in the U.S., and we can start new oil recovery operations in many areas of Los Angeles County where ancient oil field sites are covered by housing and buildings.

U.S. national security policy must help American oil companies produce at home to make the U.S. economy less vulnerable to foreign manipulations and oil supply shocks.
