El Toro High School will kick off an $11-million renovation project this summer by installing 86 new parking spots for teachers.

Former teachers’ parking spots then will be open to students, a move school officials hope will ease a severe student parking crunch. About 1,500 students vie for less than 380 spots, Principal Jack Clement said.

The parking lot construction is expected to be complete by the end of summer.

Over the next three years, the school also plans to add a gymnasium for athletic team practices, enlarge the theater, drama and music rooms and build a two-story, 16-room science wing with new laboratories.
