SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
Only 30% of the Capistrano Unified School District’s incoming seventh-graders could attend class if the next school year began today instead of in September because the rest lack the required immunizations, officials said.
The bulk of the district’s 3,300 seventh-grade students still need to prove they have begun a three-shot series of hepatitis B immunizations and have received their second measles, mumps and rubella shots.
Capistrano Unified will work with Mission San Juan Capistrano to provide free shots during a Kids’ Care Fair on Aug. 26.
The district’s clinic is open from 8 to 11 a.m. Mondays at 32951 Calle Perfecto. Information: (949) 489-7184.
