At Least 15 Killed in Kashmir Violence

At least 15 people, including 13 separatist guerrillas, were killed in gun battles in India’s troubled Kashmir region, police said. The Indian army said over the weekend that at least 2,500 separatist guerrillas were waiting near the Pakistani border to cross into restive Jammu and Kashmir state. New Delhi accuses Pakistan of arming and training Kashmiri separatists and sending in foreign Islamic mercenaries from Afghanistan and elsewhere, a charge Islamabad denies.
