Misogyny

Share

* Two articles caught my eye on June 15 and, indeed, my feeling of rage is palpable. Josh Getlin quotes a police spokesman in “Outrage in N.Y. Over Assaults” who blamed the [sexual attacks in Central Park] on hot weather, plus “testosterone” among the men. Several pages later I learn that at their last convention, Southern Baptists ruled that women can no longer serve as pastors “because the office . . . is limited to men . . . by Scripture.”

What does one story have to do with the other? My thinking is that testosterone is also the culprit among these men of God. How else can we explain the ongoing misogyny that continues to keep women off the streets and out of the pulpit?
