* FedEx Corp. said it will speed the expansion of home delivery service because of unexpected demand. Plans now call for the service to reach about 80% of the U.S. population by fall 2001, and for nationwide coverage by September 2002, more than a year earlier than initially scheduled. FedEx, based in Memphis, Tenn., is scheduled to report fiscal fourth-quarter earnings today. The company’s shares rose $2.94 to close at $37 on the NYSE.
