DWP Offers Businesses Rebates for Saving Energy

LOS ANGELES — The Department of Water and Power unveiled an incentive program Tuesday for business customers who install energy-efficient lights starting July 1, a spokesman for the department said.
The $900,000 program, called the Commercial Lighting Efficiency Offer, provides rebates for different types of efficient lighting used by small and medium-size business customers, DWP spokesman Walter Zeisl said. Large business customers are entitled to receive approximately $250 for each kilowatt of demand reduced by installing energy efficient lights and lighting systems.
The program is projected to result in energy savings of nearly 5.8 million kilowatt-hours a year.
The DWP also announced that it will begin a program in the fall to provide residential customers with efficient replacement lamps at no cost. The program is expected to save about 2.4 million kilowatt-hours annually.
