Orange County had no business incubators less than a year ago. Today it has eight, yet another indication of the county’s growing reputation as a hot spot for start-ups.

On Saturday, representatives from more than a dozen Southern California incubators, including all of those in Orange County, will hold a show-and-tell at the Doubletree Hotel in Costa Mesa. Entrepreneurs, especially those in high-tech and biomedical industries, will learn about the different incubators and what they have to offer.

Incubators provide a variety of services to new companies, ranging from subsidized facilities to mentoring to funding, among other things. In exchange, incubators receive fees or an equity stake in the nascent businesses.

Orange County’s new incubators include GazelleLab in Irvine, co-founded by Tech Coast Angels founder Luis Villalobos, and the Beckman Laser Institute Photonics Incubator at UC Irvine.

Tickets to Saturday’s event, sponsored by Venture Point, the Orange County Business Council’s small-business development program, cost $40 in advance and $50 at the door.
