CALSTART Names Award for Imbrecht

CALSTART, a nonprofit organization working to develop alternative forms of transportation, has named an award after Ventura native Charles Imbrecht, a former state assemblyman and energy commissioner.

Imbrecht, 50, died of a heart attack in January. He served on CALSTART’s board of directors.

CALSTART will present the award to the California Fuel Cell Partnership at its fourth annual awards ceremony Friday in Pasadena.

“We named the award after Chuck because he was instrumental in helping CALSTART from the very beginning,” said Susan Romeo, marketing director for WestStart-CALSTART. “It was through his foresight that we first got going. He gave us access to people who could get us funding.”

The California Fuel Cell Partnership is a combination of public agencies, technology developers, auto companies and oil companies that work together to bring alternative fuel technology to the marketplace, Romeo said.
