Passengers, Be Prepared

Share

Am I the only one who’s sick of hearing cruise ship passengers complain if the sea gets a little rough (“Not Shipshape,” Letters, Feb. 27)? What do passengers expect? They chose to go on a ship. A ship floats on the water. The water moves. Must a travel agent or a cruise line point out the obvious?

If you want a holiday on the water that doesn’t involve a little rocking, rent a room in a beachfront hotel.

If you still feel you must go to sea, do some homework. Check the weather projections in the area for the dates you’ll be traveling. Don’t sail during hurricane and cyclone seasons. If you’re prone to seasickness, don’t go on routes where the sea is notoriously rough.

Some people are just not meant to go to sea.
