Kidnapped Cycling Champion Released

A former cycling champion and national hero of this war-torn country who was kidnapped Saturday has been freed. Luis Alberto Herrera, 39, was abducted at gunpoint by seven suspected Marxist rebels from the home of his parents in a mountainous region about 30 miles outside the capital, Bogota. His wife, Judith, said the 1987 winner of the Tour of Spain cycling competition was freed near Tocaima, about 25 miles northwest of where he was abducted.
