A bright, warm quilt hangs in a local real estate office, giving newcomers a taste of this city’s creativity--and generosity.

Thirty-two local artists have donated their talents to create pillows and a quilt that will be auctioned to support art education in Laguna Beach.

Members of the nonprofit Laguna Outreach Community Arts, which is sponsoring the auction, say they have sold 160 raffle tickets at $5 each. They are hoping to raise $10,000.

The auction will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 1 at the Surf and Sand Hotel, 1555 S. Coast Highway.

The outreach program uses proceeds to educate the community about the arts. The group, which has about 160 members, often hosts programs at schools and youth shelters.

The quilt is on display at First Team Nolan, 900 Glenneyre St. Tickets are $5 or $20 for five.
