Rattray to Assume Chief Executive Spot

Stuart Rattray has been selected chief executive of Australia-New Zealand Direct Line in Santa Ana. Rattray, currently executive vice president, will assume the position in April. He succeeds Michael Beard, who is leaving the company.

* Christopher R. Pook has been named to the board of directors of RaceSearch.com, a Costa Mesa Internet E-commerce and information site catering to auto racing and other automobile enthusiasts. Pook is the founder of the Long Beach Grand Prix.

* Sean Maharaj has joined the tax planning and preparation practice group of Corbin & Wertz in Irvine as a staff accountant. He was most recently with Arthur Andersen LLP. Anne Glass has joined the company as firm administrator. She had been operations manager with the Mike Ferry Organization, and before that was executive assistant to the chief executive of Century 21 Real Estate Corp.

* Barbara Thomas has been appointed to the new position of chief executive of Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. Thomas, a longtime volunteer, served on the board of directors from 1995 to 1999 and was chairman in 1998. Greg Compton is the new president and executive director. He had been vice president of a family partnership.

* Renee Barot has been named director of operations for the California Assn. of Community Managers in Irvine. Before joining the nonprofit organization, she was the membership and executive issues director for the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California, Orange County chapter.

* Linda Galvez has been appointed vice president at the Sexton Companies in Newport Beach. She will oversee credit and documentation for the company, which specializes in equipment financing for small and mid-size companies.

* Skip Jones, director of planning and technology for QLogic Corp. in Aliso Viejo, has been elected president of the Fibre Channel Industry Association.

* James Calder has been named vice president of Marsh, a risk and insurance services firm, and head of the international department in Orange County and the Inland Empire. He will be based in the Newport Beach office.

* Karen Mulvany has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president, business planning/development for Emulex Corp. in Costa Mesa. Mulvany has previously held investment banking positions at Robertson Colman & Stephens, L.F. Rothschild Unterberg Towbin and Hambrecht & Quist. Prior to joining Emulex, she had consulted for various technology companies in the areas of investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and corporate finance since 1991.

* Donald R. Farrow has been named executive vice president of administration for StarBase Corp. in Santa Ana. He has served in various senior management positions with StarBase since 1996, and before that, held senior management positions with Symantec and Novell. Douglas S. Norman is the new chief financial officer. Norman is also assistant secretary and a founding member of StarBase. He will continue to be responsible for all financial matters of the company, investor relations, operations and human resources. Stephen M. Kuhn was appointed vice president, business development, and Patricia M. Howe was named corporate counsel. Kuhn has been working with StarBase as a consultant since 1997. Before joining StarBase, Howe was vice president, software licensing and corporate counsel for Systems Management Specialists Inc. in Santa Ana, and was corporate counsel for Subscriber Computing Inc.

* Gerald Giglio and Arlan Murata have joined the Anaheim office of Grubb & Ellis Co. as vice presidents. They were both formerly with the Anaheim office of CB Richard Ellis.

* Megan Nelson has been named account executive for Morgan Marketing & Public Relations in Irvine. She has been with the firm since 1997.
