Fixing the Valley’s Potholes

Share

* Re “Pothole Patrols,” Feb. 25.

Oh, the irony. A full-page article about the sad state of the city’s streets, the hope of having potholes filled within 24 hours after they are reported, but no phone number to call. Here is it, folks: (800) 996-2489.

However, if the city continues to shovel a few cups of asphalt into each pothole and then sweep it level with a broom, the asphalt will continue to wash out after each rain, as it has done on our corner, just two weeks after the potholes were “fixed.” These streets need repaving, not Band-Aids.

I am forced to bob and weave on Sunnyslope Avenue, a narrow, winding street in Sherman Oaks, because so many deep potholes fill the center and both edges. In trying to save my tires I am knowingly endangering myself and others. So far I have called four times to have this section of street repaired and nothing has happened.
