a tough case to crack

Share

With airlines cracking down on the size of carry-ons, more passengers are checking their bags. And the rough treatment that luggage receives from baggage handlers and airport carousels has hard-sided suitcases making a comeback. Atlantic’s new Hardside Travel Vault is state of the art. It’s made of the same scratch-resistant, all-weather material used on the bottoms of downhill skis. Durable in-line skate wheels make it easy to maneuver. Valuables are protected by bulletproof security latches, a built-in combination lock and a watertight rubber seal. Traditional suitcases have their handles in the middle, where mechanical arms on airport conveyor belts can wreak havoc; the Vault has its locks higher up. Includes a removable hanging compartment for suits and dresses.
