Jaime Clark hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning and Jennifer Spediacci pitched a five-hitter to help top-ranked Washington defeat second-ranked Arizona, 6-1, in the final of the Kia Classic softball tournament at Cal State Fullerton on Sunday.

Washington extended its winning streak to 22 games and ended Arizona’s 35-game winning streak.

The Huskies (31-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Jenny Topping’s sacrifice fly that drove in Rosie Leutzinger, who singled to start the inning.

In the second inning, Washington scored three runs on three hits and an error to take a 4-0 lead.

The Wildcats (35-2) loaded the bases twice in the third inning, but managed to get only one run. Lauren Bauer scored from third after she was hit by third baseman Kim DePaul’s throw to home with the bases loaded.

Spediacci (16-1) struck out eight for the Huskies, who have beaten Arizona twice this year. Washington defeated the Wildcats, 1-0, in February.

Becky Lemke (18-1) gave up nine hits and struck out six in seven innings for Arizona.

Clark, who went to Foothill High School last year and was The Times’ Orange County player of the year, hit her 12th home run of the season. She trails former La Habra High player Topping, who has a school-record 15 this season for the Huskies.
